Supplementary health insurance

To supplement Social Security reimbursements, and if they do not meet the conditions for complementary CMU-C (CMU-C complémentaire), students can benefit from complementary health insurance (complémentaire santé solidaire), provided they meet the means test.

Our dedicated team

A dedicated team, the Vital'Ipag committee, is on hand to guide students towards the most appropriate health and well-being solutions.

Healthcare directory

A health and well-being directory listing all the health services and professionals that can be contacted is available to students on their intranet.

Well-being areas

Students have access to wellness areas. Here they can relax, recharge their batteries and access specific documentation.

Distributors of sanitary protection

The campuses are equipped with free emergency sanitary protection dispensers.

Psychological support

The school is a partner of the Bureaux d'Aide Psychologique Universitaire (BAPU). Thanks to these partnerships, students can benefit from personalised support and rapid treatment.

Social Security

Membership of the French social security system is free and compulsory. It allows you to have your healthcare costs reimbursed for the duration of your studies.

To ensure that you are reimbursed quickly and correctly, adopt the following good habits:

  • Update your Vitale card
  • Open an ameli.fr account
  • Declare a preferred doctor

Sign up to a supplementary health insurance scheme to top up your National Health Insurance reimbursements and reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. To find out more, see the student health insurance tab.

International students: visit the etudiant-etranger.ameli.fr website (redirect link opens in a new window), which will help you with all the formalities once you have enrolled at a higher education establishment.

  • European Union: Before you arrive in France, you must apply to your home country's social security organisation for your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This organisation will continue to cover your healthcare costs in France.
  • Outside the European Union: Before arriving in France, you must bring the following documents in digital format (documents required for your social security registration): proof of identity (passport); proof of civil status (birth certificate); a valid student visa.

You will be able to benefit from personalised support on the campuses thanks to the activities of the CPAM on which each campus depends.

Medical check-ups

The school has a number of partnerships enabling students to make rapid appointments with health professionals.

Health and well-being events

Because self-fulfilment and self-care are key to success, the school's health committee organises a range of events throughout the year to promote student health and well-being: Health Week, blood donation, prevention, hearing and vision screening, free osteopathy consultations, psychological support, first aid training, yoga classes, mental preparation for exams, nutrition and dietetics workshops, etc.

Choosing a student mutual insurance company

To find out more about student mutual insurance companies

See the dedicated article on the Etudiants.gouv website

As a student, you can choose to take out a mutuelle étudiante (student health insurance scheme) to cover any health costs you may incur or travel abroad, etc.

Signing up for a student mutual insurance scheme involves very few formalities and means you'll be covered in no time. It means you can take your studies in your stride, and no longer have to worry about the possible risks of a health problem on your student life and your budget.
