The principle of dual studies has become widely available in French higher education, particularly in business schools. As proof, the possibility of doing your work-study course today concerns most of the training from 2-year to 5-year degree: Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS), Bachelor, Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) Grande École Programme ( PGE), Master in Business Administration (MBA), etc.

Professional opportunities

Specific courses work-study in a business school?

Students who choose to join a business school and do their work-study training follow the same lessons as those who opt for initial training. The professional opportunities for each specialisation are the same, whether you follow your work-study training or not. Above all, the interns obtain the same diploma as the other students.

However, the pace of study is different since the work-study student spends two to three days a week in his host company and the rest of the time in his school. Note that these work-study rhythms vary from one business school to another and often depend on the course chosen. For example, at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Business School, the pace is two days per week for the first two years of the Bachelor Pro program (in Nice), two days per week in the first year of the PGE master's program, three days in company per week in second year of master of the PGE.

Why do a work-study school?

Work-study programs have many advantages... First, they allow students to accumulate more professional experience. It is even a guarantee for young graduates to be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of the professional world and therefore improve their employability. Then, the proposed contracts (professionalisation contract or apprenticeship contract) offer students the possibility of benefiting from employee status and obtaining better remuneration than those of trainees. Finally, work-study students reduce the cost of their higher education by having tuition fees covered by their host company: a major advantage for students who wish to graduate from a large business school.

Join a business school

When should you join a work-study school?

For high school diploma holders who wish to join a business school on a work-study basis from their first year in higher education, many post-bac schools offer bachelors and BTS. Same thing for those who want to get the diploma targeted bac+5, master's degree, from a Grande École Program: some establishments like ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ offer alternation to their students in the master cycle and this, as well as students entering the program directly after the bac only to those entered via parallel admissions.

How to integrate a work-study school?

In a higher business school, there is no difference, in terms of the admission procedure, between future apprentices and those who will follow the course in initial training. The application file remains the same, the competitions and the jury's requirements too… However, during the individual interview, it may be interesting to mention your interest in dual training, to explain the role it can play in your professional project, to show that you are already looking for a hospitality company, etc.

The training offered in sandwich courses can therefore be integrated in the same way as those in initial training. At ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, admission to a Bachelor Pro in Nice is based on application and motivation interview. The Grande École Program can be integrated through the SESAME competition or through parallel admissions with the AMBITIONS+ competition for those wishing to join the PGE in the third or fourth year.
