In just a few years, the interest of consulting agencies and companies in professionals with UX Design (User eXperience Design) skills has grown considerably. In other words, the UX Designer profession has a future and today, several Grandes Écoles such as ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Business School and various organisations offer specific courses to train professionals who wish to specialise in UX project management.

What is UX Design?

UX Design is based on taking into account the user experience in the design of software, websites or mobile applications. Previously confined to simple web design, i.e. the user interface, the most visible part of a project, UX Design now intervenes upstream of the design and at each stage of the interface's development. Ultimately, the objective of this method is to make the user's journey as instinctive and pleasant as possible by offering web and digital interfaces with ergonomics, graphics, interactivity and usability that are perfectly in line with their expectations.

What skills are needed to become a UX Designer?

The UX Designer's job is at the crossroads of marketing, web design, graphic design and web development. As web project managers, UX Designers must be creative, have strong managerial skills and be aware of the nature of the work done by the many professionals with whom they collaborate (developer, designer, web designer, Ui designer, art director, graphic designer, etc.). In other words, he is a true conductor of an orchestra and, as such, he must have notions if not real specific technical skills in graphic design, DTP, motion design, html and css languages, responsive design. They must also know how to use the main graphics software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).

Why train in UX Design?

Today, almost all companies have integrated the notion of UX Design into their strategic thinking about the design of their various online media. Not only do they call on agencies specialising in interface design, but they are increasingly integrating UX experts into their teams. And if in the past, some professionals (graphic designers, web designers, developers, etc.) still trained on the job, there are now very high-level training courses to acquire all the skills that will enable you to manage a UX Design project, from the first user tests to its online launch, including the layout and graphic design phases of the user interface. Finally, obtaining a recognised diploma, especially if it is at Master's level, will give you a good competitive edge on the job market.

Which training to become a UX Designer?

In recent years, the range of training courses has diversified and you can find Bachelor's level courses (Bac+3), or Master's level courses (Bac+5) most often, to train in UX Design. Not all of these courses are equal, whether in terms of the reputation of the institution, the recognition of the diploma, the quality of the teaching, or the professional experience... Take the time to choose your course carefully.  For example, a business school like ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ offers a distance learning Master's degree (Bac+5, RNCP level 7) in UX Design & Digital Business, in partnership with ESDAC (École Supérieure de Design, d'Arts Appliqués & de Communication). This Master of Science (Msc), online and in English, has been designed to train, in 12 or 24 months, versatile project managers and UX Designers, as comfortable with the notion of business models as with that of visual identity.
