What are the aims of the BTS in Operational Commercial Management

This course enables students to learn how to build customer loyalty for a company, contribute to its business growth and manage one of its units. To achieve these aims, the two-year BTS in Operational Commercial Management includes the following teaching modules:

  • Economics, law and management studies
  • Operational management

  • Customer relationship management and sales advice

In order to build professional experience, all students taking this BTS as a post-secondary qualification must complete an internship lasting 12 to 16 weeks during their course. Entering the job market following a BTS in Operational Commercial Management

Following their two years of training, holders of a BTS are operational to join an SME, a major retailer, a service provider, an industrial group, a bank, an insurance company, and the list goes on. In short, they can find work in all kinds of business sectors and companies (from small-scale operations to large organisations) and adapt to all their business activities, or almost all.

At the beginning of their working life, BTS holders generally occupy the following positions:

After two years’ experience, they can progress into roles with greater operational responsibility and/or manage a team of three to five people, for example:

Which study paths are open following a BTS in Operational Commercial Management?

The two-year Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) course (120 ECTS credits) lays a solid foundation for those wishing to continue studying for a degree-level course (Bachelor’s, Professional Bachelor’s, DCG (French accounting and management diploma), etc.).

Taking a Professional Bachelor’s Degree after a BTS in Operational Commercial Management

The Professional Bachelor’s is a short vocational course (12 months). This undergraduate degree-level qualification enables students to specialise, according to their career plan, in the areas of banking, finance, insurance, marketing, communication or human resources, for example.

Taking a Bachelor’s at a business school

Many post-secondary business schools today allow holders of a two-year higher education qualification to join a Bachelor’s course directly in the third year thanks to “parallel admission” procedures. Taking a DCG

For those who want to work with numbers, a BTS in Operational Commercial Management opens the door to the three-year Diplôme de Comptabilité et de Gestion (DCG – Accounting and Management Diploma), a degree-level qualification. However, unlike holders of a BTS in Accounting and Management, holders of a BTS in Operational Commercial Management do not benefit from credit transfers and must complete all 13 teaching units of the DCG.
