What is in-company training?

Intra-company training is an existing training course in the catalogue of a training organisation, delivered exclusively to a targeted group of employees of the same company. It is different from inter-company training, which brings together employees from different companies and sectors. It is also different from tailor-made training, which is the creation of an ad hoc, exclusive and personalised programme aimed at addressing the specific problems of an organisation. Tailor-made training requiring unique pedagogical engineering is therefore much more expensive than in-company training.

Ideally, these in-company training courses bring together trainees with the same expectations and a similar level. Each employee can thus benefit from the training easily and put it into practice without delay. In-company training almost always involves an external training organisation (it is not an internal training course). The objectives of the training differ according to the needs of the learners, the company and the training organisation chosen. In general, the modalities can be tailored to meet the needs and training objectives of the company with precision.

Some constraints must be taken into account: first of all, the need to have a critical mass of employees, in order to encourage a certain group dynamic and a richness in interactions.  It is also necessary to be careful about mixing populations, to avoid hierarchical links within a group in order to encourage freedom of speech, and to ensure a certain level of homogeneity.

Why do an in-company training?

You have understood: the overall objective of in-company training is to train trainees from the same company so that they are operational in their missions. This type of training has many advantages. We present them to you.

Bringing together and training employees around a common project

The first advantage of in-company training is that it allows the various employees of the company to invest in a common project. This type of training helps to unite a company's employees, to strengthen group cohesion and to develop the skills of each individual. Intra-company training also guarantees access to a common vocabulary and processes, and provides a common foundation for all.

Valuing the skills of its employees

Enabling each employee to develop his skills is a way of helping him or her to develop professionally. An employee who develops his individual skills through training and has them recognised by all is a happier employee at work. Training in new or improved skills is also a way to move on to new tasks and to combat demotivation at work. This type of training also encourages the pooling of individual skills and sometimes the formalisation of good internal practices in order to carry out the company's projects successfully.

Flexible training methods

Although it is based on an existing programme, in-company training is nevertheless adjustable and adaptable to the requirements of the company and its employees, whether in terms of the angle of the training, dates, location or format. The training can therefore take place on the company's premises, in the training organisation's premises or in a third party venue, for example to reinforce the convivial or team-building aspect of the training.

How to do an in-company training?

There are many different types of in-company training courses to choose from, depending on the sector in which the company operates. The first thing to do is to opt for a training course that allows the development of the skills required to achieve the company's objectives. A discussion with the programme's educational manager is necessary to enable him or her to understand the challenges and expectations of the client company, and thus to organise the programme's educational methods as well as possible. Only once these needs have been defined will it be possible to choose a training centre that is consistent with the training project in question. The content and programme of training courses depend on the training organisation. Here are some professional training courses provided by ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ from our training catalogue that are particularly suitable for intra-company sessions:

How much does an in-company training course cost?

The cost of an in-company training course can vary according to several factors (training organisation chosen, content of the training, duration of the training session, etc.), including the number of participants and the location of the training. Training organisations often set a fee for the travel and training provided by the trainer, regardless of the number of people to be trained. In-company training is considered to be profitable for the company if it enrols at least 5 participants. This means that it is more interesting for the company to buy an in-company training course than to send its 5 employees to inter-company sessions.
