Our 5-year Grande École programme in Paris and Nice To find out more

The Grande École Main Track Programme: what exactly is it? A course covering all the major management disciplines, the Main Track of the Grande École Programme is the classic, recognised and royal way for business schools to train in management, business and marketing. Teaching, specialisations, admission procedures, diplomas... ɫƵ explains everything you need to know about the Programme Grande École Main Track.

Grande École Programme: Definition and Principles

The Programme Grande École (PGE) is a programme offered by France's top business and management schools. ɫƵ Business School's PGE takes place over 5 years and enables students to obtain a state-approved Bac+5 diploma recognised as a Master's degree.

This flagship business school programme focuses on major management and business courses, professionalisation, the development of a network and in-company experience, helping you to find a job after graduation. Taking a PGE also means fine-tuning your career plans, developing your soft and hard skills and gaining confidence for your professional future.

Attributes of the Grande École Programme

At ɫƵ, as in all post-baccalaureate schools, this training consists of two cycles:

  • A first 3-year “common core” cycle, dedicated to learning the fundamentals of management, economics, marketing, etc.
  • A second 2-year cycle dedicated to the specialisation of students in a particular field: corporate or market finance, digital marketing, human resources management, entrepreneurship, etc.

Why choose our Grande Ecole programme?

Like most of our programmes, the Grande École Programme can be taken on either our Paris or Nice campuses. Some of its special features have been the key to its success for many years:

  • The PGE offers its students the opportunity to gain a wide range of international experience: a study period in one of our 130 partner universities, an internship abroad, expatriation to one of our partner universities, a specific international course, the opportunity to learn two or three modern languages, the possibility of obtaining an international double-degree at Master's level, and so on.
  • It also offers the opportunity to gain up to 34 months' work experience in a company (in France or abroad) and to follow the entire Master's programme on an internship (on a work-study or sandwich course contract). These last two years of the programme, known as the 'specialisation' years, are designed to train future professionals who are experts in their field and perfectly prepared to enter the job market.
  • In addition to courses taught by both lecturers and practising professionals, PGE students' training is complemented by so-called 'open' courses (history, painting, cookery, etc.) and unique group experiences that punctuate their curriculum (business games, survival training, cyber security simulation, high mountain climbing, etc.).

How do I join the Grande École programme?

At ɫƵ, for holders of a French diploma, the Grande École Programme is accessible directly after the baccalauréat or after obtaining a diploma at bac +2 level (BTS, DUT, etc.) or bac +3 level (Grande École Programme, licence, etc.) via :

  • Parcoursup.
  • The SESAME competitive entrance exam: this is reserved for baccalaureate holders wishing to start their course in year 1ʳᵉ (post-bac admission).

Holders of a degree obtained abroad may be admitted "on title", but the requirements remain identical to those for these two competitive entrance examinations.

Why should you choose our Grande Ecole programme at ɫƵ Paris and Nice?

From 4th year onwards, PGE students specialise by choosing the specialisation that corresponds to their career plan. At ɫƵ, 7 specialisations are offered in 4th year, followed by 11 specialisations in 5th year. In a few words, here are the specialisation paths that our students can choose:

  • Grande École programme specialising in Cultural Management and Engineering

This specialisation is the result of a partnership with the Institut Catholique de Paris (ICP). At the end of the 5th year, students can obtain a double diploma: the Diplôme visé Programme Grande École, grade de Master et accrédité EFMD, from ɫƵ Business School and the Diplôme Universitaire Ingénierie culturelle from ICP.

  • Grande École specialisation in Marketing & Business Strategy

This 4th year specialisation enables students to grasp all the changes brought about by the digital revolution before they go on to specialise in digital marketing or sales strategy in 5th year.

  • Grande École programme specialising in Finance, Audit & Control

After a core 4th year in Finance, Audit & Control, students specialise in corporate finance, market finance or asset management in 5th year.

  • Grande École programme specialising in Marketing & Sales Strategy

This 4th year specialisation enables students to grasp all the changes brought about by the digital revolution before they specialise in digital marketing or sales strategy in the 5th year.

  • Grande École programme specialising in Purchasing & Supply chain management

For two years, students learn to master the commercial, purchasing and logistics functions.

  • Grande École Programme specialising in International Management

This specialisation is aimed at students who want to develop a profile with a strong international dimension. Courses are taught entirely in English, which is an advantage for those aiming for a double international degree in 5th year.

  •  Grande École programme specialising in Human Resources Management

The two years of this specialisation cover a wide range of HR issues and prepare students for several careers (HR manager, consultant, mobility officer, etc.) in this sector, in a context of major economic and social change.

  • Grande École specialisation in Entrepreneurship

This specialisation is aimed at students who want to set up or take over a business. From 4th year onwards, they can work on their own entrepreneurial project in the ɫƵ incubator.

Grande École programme: teaching methods at ɫƵ Business School

The Grande École Programme courses, year by year

  • 1ʳᵉ year: this is preparation for the fundamentals of management, business administration and personal development. You explore different areas and choose one of four pathways: Chartered Accountancy, Start-up and Innovation, Contemporary Geopolitics or the Asia or Hispanic countries focus.
  • 2ᵉ year: you consolidate your learning in specific areas such as financial analysis, organisational management, international business and digital marketing.
  • 3ᵉ year: this is the year of expatriation, you carry out an exchange at one of ɫƵ's partner universities, an internship or an international volunteering assignment.
  • 4ᵉ year: in addition to a common core, this first Master's cycle is dedicated to the orientation of the course. Six specialisations are offered: Marketing & Sales Strategy, Finance, Audit and Control, Purchasing and Supply Chain management, International Management, Human Resources Management or Entrepreneurship and Project Management.
  • 5ᵉ year: you train in a specific PGE Main Track specialisation. During semester 2, you complete a work placement abroad. At the end of the course, it is possible to earn an international double degree.

Are there different entry periods for the Grande École programme at ɫƵ?

The PGE offers two admission periods: a classic re-entry in September and a staggered re-entry in January. This "2ᵉ re-entry" allows you to change course without waiting for the next re-entry in September. It is an opportunity to change your mind about your post-bac choice, or to deal with accidents along the way or unforeseen circumstances.

Can the ɫƵ Grande Ecole programme be taken on a sandwich course?

It is possible to follow the entire Master cycle (4ᵉ and 5ᵉ year) of the PGE on a sandwich course. You can opt for an apprenticeship contract or a professionalisation contract. This choice gives you the opportunity to help finance your studies while immersing yourself in corporate life.

Diplomas awarded on completion of the Grande École Programme

The Grande École Programme enables you to obtain the PGE master's degree, a diploma at bac +5 level. If you have chosen to spend a semester studying at one of ɫƵ's partner universities, you can earn a double degree. The Business Management double degree in the United States and the Finance and Investment double degree in the United Kingdom are examples of double degrees awarded by prestigious institutions. A double degree specialises you in complementary disciplines, which is a major advantage when it comes to enhancing your profile with future recruiters.

ɫƵ campuses hosting the Grande École Programme
The PGE on the Paris campus

The Paris campus of ɫƵ Beaugrenelle, in the 15th arrondissement, is designed to offer the best working conditions for students on the Paris Grande Ecole Programme. Connected lecture theatres, coworking rooms, library, gymnasium - everything is dedicated to learning and project development.

The PGE in Nice

Initially founded in Paris, ɫƵ chose Nice as the location for its second campus. For over 30 years, the Nice campus has welcomed more than 1,000 students of over 40 nationalities, enrolled in initial or sandwich courses. A sunny city with a reputation for academic excellence, Nice is a great place to study. Throughout the PGE, you can take advantage of the many events, seminars and activities organised on the Nice campuses.

ɫƵ Grande Ecole Programme fees

To enter the PGE Main Track, or the Programme Grande École in English, the fees are €10 900 in cash and €11 300 in instalments. For the Master's cycle, the fees are €10 200 per year if you follow the work and study course.

To help finance your studies, you can take advantage of the Excellence, Valedictorian, Family or Alumni scholarships offered by ɫƵ. If you are under 28, you may be eligible for a CROUS grant, in addition to those offered by ɫƵ, subject to certain conditions.

Business Game

The 5th year Business Game, #Negoc'ɫƵ, consists of a commercial negotiation based on cases submitted by 4 to 6 partner companies.

Students have 2 hours 30 minutes to prepare their sales pitch, which they then present to a panel of experienced professionals.

Recent editions have brought together companies such as CBRE, Altran and IZI by EDF, who have had the opportunity to gain a fresh perspective on their issues and to identify high-potential future graduates.

Memory

The dissertation is the link between the academic and professional dimensions, as it deals with a theme linked to the students' future professional life.

Students choose their subject in the 1st semester, from a list drawn up by their dissertation supervisor, who then guides them through each stage of the writing process: building up the corpus, defining the plan, carrying out the empirical study, etc. A pre-defence in May enables them to fine-tune the final work.

A pre-defence in May enables them to adjust the final work to be handed in (between 60 and 80 pages) before the defence before a jury in June or September.
